SESSION 1 SHARED LEARNING MORNING

Introduction to the Module and Overview of the Bible

During this introductory morning we will explore how scripture fits together.  We will look at timelines of the Old and New Testaments and spend a bit of time exploring how the the main themes of the the Old Testament run through from the beginning to the end and how they are then taken up in the New Testament. The final session of the day will explore best practice in putting together an All-Age Talk.

The Gospel of Matthew

In this session we will look at the book of Matthew, its date and authorship, its structure, themes and what it says about Jesus.

In this session we will look at Mark's gospel, its date and authorship, its structure, themes and what it says about Jesus.

SESSION 5 SHARED LEARNING MORNING

Rich & Poor: Attitudes to Wealth and Poverty in the NT

In this session we will explore the disruptive nature of gospel imperatives regarding wealth and poverty as well as the connection between religious observance and ethical actions.

In this session we will look at the gospel of John, its date and authorship, its structure, themes and what it says about Jesus.

The Acts of the Apostles

In this session we look at the main themes of the second of Luke's writings, the Acts of the Apostles, as well as its structure and how it relates to our church life today.

A Brief Introduction to the Epistles of Paul

In this session we will identify which of the epistles are ascribed to Paul and begin to examine the the main themes and ideas that Paul presents in different ways in all of his letters.

Revelation

The book of Revelation has been the subject of much debate and speculation over the centuries since it was written.  In this session we will explore the main messages of the book, its structure and relationship to the Old Testament.

During this morning we learn more about the apostle Paul and his descriptions of the early church and the ways in which it functioned as a community.
